April 2007

We took a family trip to the ABR – for those not familiar, the Akumal Beach Resort. The players were I, my husband, our son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren – the Princess (Gabriella) and Z. (Zachary Tyler Johnson if you were to ask him!!)

Our excursions were few – to start we did visit LBV (La Buena Vida) on Half Moon Bay –

We all walked here from the ABR, or I should say, the adults walked and the GKs were carried most of the way. It was a really relaxing walk, checking out all the Villas along the way.

Z had to climb up in the crows nest – pretty gutsy for a two & half year old!! (My opinion)

We love the ambiance at LBR gazing out over HMB – especially when there is a full moon. Unfortunately, we did not have one this visit.

I was so busy bugging Dan for his trip report, I forgot to nag you! Thanks for saving me the trouble! :D While Akumal doesn't have the same vibe as Tulum and their beaches aren't nearly as spectacular, you gotta give them the award for best snorkeling!

Thanks for posting the Buena Vida pics!! It's one of my top places to grab grub-n-pub after diving!!!

Ahh, yes...the shirt saga! For those who don't know, I scuba dive all over the world. That shirt is my original dive shirt that I purchased after completing my certification dives in Mexico. I have it with me on each dive (Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Caribbean, U.S.) and time - and third world washing machines - have not been kind to the old friend.

Though I saw the benefits of wearing this hole-ridden top (increased ventilation, added street cred by appearing to suspicious thugs that I had survived several drive bys), Jennifer did not. It met its maker at the bar shortly after the La Buena Vida photo. :)

I salute you, dive shirt!! :p
