I stayed at Don Armandos when it was in (escrow).
I love the layout of the cabanas, it is open and bright compare to cabanas copal where I stayed for one night and felt the area tight and dark and a little bit rocky. I have also stayed at santa fe, same feeling; open. If you don't mind very rustic. I think the beach in this area is beautiful and smooth. I am going there this year Dec. 2005

Hi,

I noticed you said that you stayed at Zazil Kin not long ago and going to be staying there again. A friend and myself are hoping to stay there in late march but have been unsuccessful in getting in contact with them about accommodation. How did you get in contact with them as we have tried emailing quite a few times. If you happen to have their number i would be eternally grateful!!!!!

Thanks,
Holly.

Hello,
I went thru the same. All the emails said they were booked. I got the number from the site hotestulum.com. Go to zazil-kin then click on Acuatic tulum and I spoke to the people from the dive shop. I just looked it up and it is unavailable at the moment but found this 0052-984-871-2508 this should be the number to the dive shop. I did go, I was there from the 23rd of Dec. - 3rd of Jan. Everything was booked when I called but the rooms were available so I reserved a room and the next morning someone had checked out of cabana so we moved into it. have a nice trip.

Enjoy your future travels ;)

We've stayed there for the past 2 years and love the place. The trick is to get there nice and early and wait for people to check out. At least that's how we've gone about it.

Hey, thanks for that. The number we were given doesn't seem to work, seems to be a fax number and we have exhausted all other avenues so we were actually going to punt it and just rock on up in the morning. Glad to hear you love it, always good to hear that about the place you want to stay at. Not sure what the demand will be like towards the end of March (that's when we are going) but hopefully something comes up. Thanks heaps!!!

Last year we stayed at Zazil Kin just a few days after New Years Eve which to my understanding is the absolute busiest time of year to be down there. We waited for about an hour to get a cabana which was no big deal. I would recommend that you stay right by reception the whole time to be safe. There was a couple there when we got there that just went in the resaurant part right next to reception and though they got a room we got ours before them. He isn't going to go look for you most likely. The only time I would worry is New Years and Spring Break. I've yet to see the new Hotel portion of the grounds, but just so you know the cabanas are rather rustic. No electric in most of them. They give you a candle or two each night. Bring a nice small flashlight as well for most of the cabanas do not have a bathroom of their own and you may be walking a ways to get to the bathroom. Everyone seems to steal a role of tp from the bathroom so I suggest you do the same to be on the safe side. I usually just buy a role or two at the Grocery store San Francisco while in town. The food there is just ok. Breakfast is very reasonably priced. We always ate breakfast there. It feels like camp at breakfast time. We pretty much always grab a cab into town after sunset and eat dinner wherever there. Anyway, it's a great place to stay. I've checked out most of the other spots along the beach and wouldn't consider staying elsewhere. Plus the price is right...
