Is there a gym in town??

I remember reading an old post about this but no one could ever say for sure whether there is a gym in Tulum. I would love to be able to join for the two months we will be there for. Of course we will be biking and walking a lot but it never hurts to lift a few weights here and there! If anyone has found one can you let me know?

It looks like there is going to be one, just not sure when it will open.

Margo said there's going to be a big one in town, on the north end near the northern roundabout. The building was well under way when I was there in November, so could be rolling very soon if not now. I find that while still in the planning stages, big projects often work on "Mexican time", but once construction gets going, things happen really fast!

There is a gym that equates with an old torture chamber that is accross from the Palacio up towards Calabazon Video...its ustairs. The new one will open after the 1st of Jan and will be upstairs from the bank in the building with the coral like balcony. There is also a sports complex in town with tennis courts, soccer fields and basketball courts plus a track. That is on the other side of town..you would have to ask for directions but any taxi could tell you. And of course what Tulum is famous for...biking & hiking!

Yayyy!!....it sounds like it's going open right before we get there! If it really does that is. But Tatoolum sounds like he knows what he's talking about so I am feeling hopeful. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the acknowledement..haha..I do know about it because 1) my hubby and I love to work out, 2) my hubby was the gym trainer at the last good one we had before it closed and 3) we looked at a new studio location right next to it. There will be a big bank but not sure which one downstairs but the gym is Evolve Gym from Playa and its almost the entire upstairs of the building and has 2 big rooms for yoga and pilates too. Its located exactly between the stoplight and the 1st traffic circle on the main avenue on the beach side....(in town not near the beach)..its should be really great..we are looking forward to it...and they will have a great chiropractor who will be working with them too if you need to get straightened out..haha..let me know if you have any other ????s

:wave:Yup, and the Aki'in folks will be the landlords....can't wait to see that staircase when it is all said and done....quite a railing, really a unique building. I think they'll do well there. :sun: Haven't heard is going in that building, and there are several other new big buildings going up in that same neighborhoods, both on and off the highway....really changes the look of driving into town.....:cool:
