Hello All I was hoping you knew which cabanas allow short stays. We are looking to head down for 2 nights since we will be running around in other parts of the yucatan (cozumel snorkeling, PDC partying etc..)
I had my heart set on NV however they are telling me no shorter than 3 nights and after asking them to make an exception I was still told three nights.
Any recommendations for places who allow shorter stays? Most of the places I see have minimum stays. Price isnt a big factor, but I would like to be relatively close to a store, nice stretch of beach and perhaps somewhere with a bit of nightlife (for Tulum of course) either onsite or nearby.
We have stayed at NV as well as Playa Azul in the past and although Playa Azul was nice and the beach in that area was great, we want to try somewhere else.
We are going the last week of January.

Thanks for any ideas and opinions.

You could try La Zebra. And I bet Tita Tulum would allow a 2-night stay, although Tita's place is pretty basic, no frills type of place. No night life really at their place, but it wouldn't be far.

Where else besides NV have you checked?

Two days ain't much, money isn't a deterent, I would stay at iTours right in town. The rooms are perfect, really nice, food there, bar there, internet there, San Fransisco across the street for your market. Cabs to restaurants on the beach or in town are very cheap. Check them out, Marcos is the owner, tell him Ron of Xamach Dos sent ya.
Website is still being worked on, try the FB pagehttp://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1420902365&ref=mf
No luck there let me know, I will be in town on Saturday and will get them to contact you direct.
Enjoy your trip.

I think most places have the 3-night requirement, but many will waive it if it fits their schedule. A place like NV, which is very popular and whose business is based on many returning customers, probably knows they don't have to negotiate. Other places may not be so confident.

So just keep trying, I'm sure you'll find somewhere who's OK with 2 nights.

The time of year should be ok, high season, but not the Xmas New Years season. I would just pick the places you think you might want to stay and start emailing them with your dates. If you aren't fussy about which cabana you get I think you might find someplace. To start, I would try Suenos, La Zebra like Beachreader said, Playa Mambo, Zulum, Cabanas Tulum (currently being redone), Tita Tulum as Phyllis said, Las Ranitas, Dos Ceibas.

Another idea is Mezzanine which is on the North beach but has more of a party vibe. Or possibly La Vita E Bella.

Letting them know you want to fit into their schedule with maybe flexible dates might work to get you your 2 nights.

Just wondering, but if a place had the room open, wouldn't they take a customer for two nights, waiving the 3 night minimum? Why not make some money, and make a customer happy----and maybe get a return customer or a referral from that customer down the road?

I got the impression that jhender31 asked if they took a two day reservation. That answer was no. This is why I encouraged them to email with their specific dates to see if they possible fit someones schedule. The other possibility was they were all fully booked.

Also, if it's too far in advance, they's say no because they'll most likely get someone who will stay for at least the required amount of days.

I wanted to thank everyone for the time taken to post replies. I was hoping to avoid the back and forth with email that is required for many of the places in Tulum but that is ok, I have begun contacting the ones suggested here as well as some others. I realize my dates are still sort of High season and thus the enforcement of the three days, I respect that.
BTW Copal has an online booking feature and appears to allow stays of 2 nights. Not sure if this is a good place or not but just wanted to note the online booking. I have also discovered a few others that will allow viewing availability and booking online so I will proceed there.

Thanks again

ya gotta love the internet for viewing, and booking. Sure beats the old days! Not quite so much guesswork and wondering what the places are like!
