I'd love to hear your recommendations. Dinner on the beach would be lovely but I bet its probably too windy. Let me know what you think!

I find just being in Tulum romantic.:p Every meal is special in some way. How exactly would you define "romantic"??
I wouldn't say that it would be windy just because you are eating on the beach. The wind usually dies down in the evenings and most of the restaurants are protected from the elements too.

La Lunita in Akumal. Tables on the beach. Nice place.

Don't assume it will be windy; it may be, it may not be. And as Minnie said, all of the beachfront restaurants have wind protection curtains they can roll down when the wind picks up.
I think El Tabano is very romantic and it's on the jungle side of the beach road so if it is windy on the beach you'll be protected there. I didn't have any issues with mosquitos in November, but it's usually a good idea to put some stuff on before you go.

To me, romantic means private and quiet. My favorite meals in Tulum have been catered. Contact Mindy or Margo for them to come over and cook you dinner. You can also try Dos Ceibas. They usually are so slow it's like having the restaurant to yourself.

Surprised no one has mentioned Hechizo. It's quite pricey, but most folks love the food & atmosphere. Do a search for it on the forum for the info & reviews. I'm sure there's info in the Restaurants thread in the FAQ forum.
I've never eaten there myself but lots of folks have had special dinners there.

Hechizo is very romantic, and they're protected from the beach by a lot of greenery and windows, so if it's windy you'll be fine. Hechizo is a wonderful place, 5-star dining of the sort you'd find in NY or LA but with a very personal touch and local ingredients (and at half the price of NY, maybe 2/3 the price of that style of dining in other cities). Not Mexican, if it matters.

I like Hechizo as well. It is very romantic. The food is amazing, and reasonably priced for comparable meals and setup in the states. Plan on spending at least $100.
I still prefer having a private dinner though. That's just the ultimate for me.

Thanks for the tips! How do you arrange a private dinner if you're staying in a place without a kitchen? Also, how do I contact Hezicho?

Where are you staying?
I would just PM Mindyintulum or MargoinMexico and give them all your details. They are bound to have lots of ideas that would make it work for you.

Oops, I stand corrected. I had the bigfoot address from something long ago. I'll go fix that, thanks.
