We arrived at Trudy's a little after 10:00 am to drop off the Explorer. She had offered to drive us to the airport but we only accepted a ride to the bus station in Playa. After visiting for a while and loading our luggage in her van we were ready to go around 11:00 am.

Outside of Playa we ran into a lot of rain that slowed us down. Once into Playa you can't drive to the bus terminal. She had to let us off on 10th. or 15th. avenue and we walked the rest of the way.

I got a guy with a tricyclo to carry our luggage for us.

We arrived at the terminal and found out we had missed our bus by less than 5 minutes. It's going to be tight but we should still have time to catch our flight if we get on the next bus.

The kids were hungry so I went across to McDonalds.

They were actually pretty good in the bus station.

The bus got to the airport at 2:05 pm. We were at the counter at 2:10 and they wouldn't lets us check in. There was no arguing with them. I would have to reschedule my flight at $168 per person. I ended up having to purchase four new tickets at $135 per person. I figured I would straighten the matter out when I got back to the states. I would have stayed for another couple of weeks if the kids didn't have to get back. During the rush to get to the check in counter I had forgotten to get the strollers off the bus. The kids are hot and tired and now I had to go out and track down the bus. I finally got them back and we boarded a bus for downtown Cancun.

Downtown Cancun isn't a bad place to stay. The Hotel Alux is only a block and a half away so I got a cab for $20 pesos to take us and the luggage over and got a room. After getting settled in, I went out to pick up some beer and food. There are lots of little places up and down the block and an OXXO on every other block.

The air conditioner was working and the kids seemed to be having a good time.

I even went out and bought them some ice cream before bed. The good thing is we won't miss our bus tomorrow.
