Hello all!! It's been quiet awhile since I've been on the forum!! I'm a Tulum two-timer (as in I've been to Tulum twice....I haven't cheated on Tulum). ;-) Stayed in March 2008 at Posada Luna del Sur and La Zebra and in March 2009 at Zulum. Planning another trip in Spring or Summer 2010, but this time will be extra special, because we want to get married on the beach in Tulum!! We have not even decided where we want to stay or get married for that matter!! All we know is that we want it to be just the two of us and the beautiful beach and water.....oh, and the appropriate person to marry of us, of course!! In other words, this is not our first marriage, so we're not going to do all the hoopla of a big wedding, just an intimate little ceremony. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with weddings in Tulum or just suggestions??? At this point I'm definitely open to suggestions as to a romantic place to stay and/or get married!! The fiance fell in love with the Xamach Dos website, so it is definitely option to go a little further down there!! Any help, suggestions, info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, Obsessed, welcome back!

Congratulations on your engagement, you couldn't pick a more wonderful place for the big event.

We've had a number of wedding trip reports here, I'm sure you'll have fun reading them if you can find them. Maybe do an Advanced Search and look for the keyword "wedding"? Might be too general, hmm.

I know Marisa got married there, but there have been several more.

I love the idea of Xamach Dos, Dan did a beautiful job with a wedding they had last year (look for the very long thread about Xamach Dos), he made a gorgeous arch of driftwood and flowers.

Cabanas La Luna is a nice place for a wedding, too, I think that's where Marisa was?

Really, any of the places we all know and love will help you do a wonderful wedding, I'm sure. I've heard about challenges with paperwork, getting a Mexican wedding recognized in the States, so I always thought it would be smart to get officially married at the courthouse in the States, then whatever ceremony you choose in Mexico wouldn't have to be so "official". I don't know, though, I've never been married so I don't know the ins and outs of stuff like that.

Anyway, congratulations again, can't wait to hear what you decide, hope we can be of help!

We got married in Tulum in 2003. It was a very small ceremony. Just us, the judge and the witnesses (hotel staff) at Ana y Jose. The hotelmanager at the time arranged the paperwork and the judge. I guess now they are more professional and have a weddingplanner on site. Most hotels have weddingplanner I guess. But we did not need one since it was only the 2 of us and we wanted it very simple.

We did have some problems with the legalisation of the marriage in Holland but it worked out in the end. There was some sort of stamp missing that should have been put on the papers in PDC but we shipped the papers back to Mexico. The hotelmanager got the stamp and shipped the documents back us again. We also had to do a bloodtest at an official hospital or doctor 2 weeks befor the wedding. Since we got married at the end of our holiday we had to do the bloodtests in a hospital in Merida. Quiet an adventure...

But is was worth it, just the 2 of us on the beach. We had the ceremony at 6 o clock. In september is was still light and at the end of the ceremony it was getting dark. The hotel staff at Ana y Jose made a beautiful arch of palmleaves and organised a bouquet of flowers for me.

It was a wonderful experience!

Congratulations Obsessed! I was married in Tulum in Feb and am headed back this week in order to scout out two other weddings for next year. Charlie and Maria performed our ceremony, and we thought it was perfect. I'll be posting a trip report later next week, but let me know if you are looking for anything in particular so that I can keep an eye out for you.
