I'm starting this thread here in General in case not everyone knows how to use the "New Posts" button to see all new things in all categories (which is a neat tip for those who don't already use it). We'll move this to the FAQ forum soon.

My goal here is to create a thread with all kinds of specific information about local Tulum services, inspired by Margo's recent move into full-time massage and guiding services, Mindy's babysitting gig, Malisa's wedding planning, etc.

The intent is not to promote certain people over others, but welcome all posts about massage therapists and other service providers so that future searchers can find the information in one place rather than searching a lot of random threads.

In general, we discourage people from self-promoting via web links in signatures, but I think for the purposes of this thread, service providers should feel welcome to say howdy and give contact info. They should be wary, though, of posting direct e-mail links, as internet spam bots can search for that format. Best to post something like "beachreader at comcast dot net" or something like that.

I hope this works for everyone!

Ahem.

We are hereby inviting all service providers in Tulum to post their information here so that future searchers can have a place to find what they need. Ditto to anyone else who has a provider they'd like to recommend.

So I'll start, though I am not a service provider. I really enjoyed the tour we had through CESiak. Our guide was Miguel, originally from the DF, but has lived all across Mexico and South America as well as Minneapolis for many years. His English is perfect and his knowledge of and love for the mangroves and other flora and fauna in the Sian Ka'an biosphere really came through in his talks.

I've heard good things about all of the guides at CESiak, and I hope to do another tour with them someday. www.cesiak.org (http://www.cesiak.org).

I will recommend Dove6 whale shark tours. Not strictly Tulum-related, but close enough. Sky is a really nice guy and he knows a lot about the sharks and other marine life. We had a great time with him and would definitely use his company again. http://whalesharkexperience.com/

Whale sharks are close enough to Tulum, I think. And thanks for that recommendation. The guys we used were OK, very nice, and one of them helped me a lot in the water, but I didn't feel like I learned anything from them.

You´re in Paradise, you NEED a massage!
:wave:Hi, I´m Margo in Mexico, and I am a massage therapist who lives in the Tulum Area. I offer my massages either in your hotel or home, or have a BEAUTIFUL place on the South Beach to do massages. You can contact me at margoinmexicomassage at hotmail dot com or you can PM me on Tulum.info, I´m a regular here.

I have lots of experience; I am a Registered Nurse and Licensed Massage Therapist with current Licenses in the US. I have been studying healing most of my adult life. I went to a very good massage school in Washington State which as usual focused on basic Swedish massage, but also they introduced us to many other modalities and have done a lot of continuing education in the years since, both in massage, yoga and energy work. I owned Healing Water Spa in Soap Lake Washington for many years before making the big move to Mexico.

My massage specialties are Spiritual, Relaxation and Chronic Pain. My suggestion is kind of a combo of all three. In the beginning it is nice to chat a bit and get to know each other, and I teach some things about the body that don´t seem to be commonly known…..then as the massage progresses, we get quiet and get in touch with the energy of the place and your inner self and go to heaven for a while, and when I´m finished, I tip toe out of the room to let you come back to your space undisturbed.

I love giving massage, I think I get as much out of giving the massage as the client does from getting the massage, it truly is an honor and a gift to share such a sacred thing with my clients. I am so excited to get back to doing more massage.

I also teach a yoga type class that combines many things that I have learned about energy and the body. I call it A CLASS IN FEELING GOOD. It is available for individuals and groups. It is about an hour and a half, and includes yoga, chi gong, energy work, eft, lymphatic system, nervous system and improves the immune system. Really I say that it is for learning things you can use in your ¨walking around life¨not just during the time you have time to set aside to get on the mat. You may have caught me in Punta Allen where I taught this class 5 days a week last winter.

I also have been a Reiki Master for almost 15 years, and also teach classes in that and other energy work.

Also, having lived here for a number of years, I can help you set up some tours with more local type vendors than the usual touristy fares. If you have any questions about pricing or anything at all, please contact me and we´ll see what we can set up for you.

Oh yeah, and I cook too!

Peace and FEEL GOOD!

Just for the record, I contacted MargoinMexico and she couldn't be nicer! I know a lot of you already know each other but for us newbies, this is valuable info! A contact like this couldn't be better. We've already booked her for two massages on the deck of our cabana. Margo also has the BEST ideas when it comes to things to do, where to go and people she can hook you up with. Margo, I'm so excited I can not stand it. Promise me you won't get too booked up for the first week of February when we are there! :eat-drink:

One of the things that I am trying to do with my website TulumLiving.com (http://www.TulumLiving.com) is to promote the different people and services that are here in Tulum. When I do a post on one of these very special people I am going to make a notation here. I hope that is okay. I will have a post up on Margo soon!. But for starters...

Tattooluum Fine Art and Tattoo Studio (http://www.tulumliving.com/2009/09/tattooluum-fine-art-and-tattoo-studio.html). The art that is available from this father son team is truly amazing. There are several different mediums- paint, sketch etc. but one of my favorites is the wood pieces that are found on the ground and made into beautiful things. Using creativity and an artistic eye- the wood truly takes on a new life. Many of the pieces are small enough to take home. They are truly amazing.

As for the tattoo and piercing- Olmo- the son is an amazing artist and a wonderful tattooer. My husband is getting a large piece done right now and it is beautiful. I am getting a piece done this week. I will post it on TL.

Here is the link to check out the art and the tattoos. PM me for more information.

Margot,

seems as though you are doing well! I feel priviledged to have known you when.... :cool:We are coming to NV Nov 16 - 19 and I know my wife and at least one other in our party would like a message. We met you at Xamach in '08:beerchug::beerchug:. If I knew how to post photos I would send a pretty good picture of you. As we get closer we will need to touch base and make arrangements.

Hi, my name is Malisa. I own a company named Destination Scout. You can find us on the web at www.destinationscout.com

We run a full service vacation and event coordination company focusing on boutique hotels and promoting local small business owners.

Tulum is a favorite location of ours, as well as Guatemala, the smaller Carribean islands, and Germany. However, we are happy to hop on a plane and scout out a new location for you in order to provide you a relaxing and authentic experience in any location you can dream of.

If you are an active participant in the tulum.info forum, you may not necessarily need our services, but it is a nice luxury. We will help you find the right hotel, book the reservation, arrange for ground transportation (rental cars, bicycles, anything your heart desires) as well as have things delivered to your hotel on your arrival, such as TelMex phones and groceries. We can arrange for Margo to give you a massage or Mindy to babysit for you. Either of them would be happy to cook for you as well.

On a grander scale, we arrange weddings and large events. This also includes booking all hotel and ground transportation, and excursions for your trip as well as coordinating all of your vendors and event management. We work hard at keeping events intimate, unique, and utilizing the local resources.

I also wanted to give a big thank you to everyone on the forum. It provides a wealth of information and friendship.

Experience Life!

Bumping this up ~ lots of new peeps who may enjoy it.

I can hardly wait to meet Miss Margo and spend some time with her magical massage. :)
Wishing we had more than a week so we could work in some side adventures as well, but this journey is devoted to pampering and peace ~ so lots of sand gravity will be the focus. :palmtree:  :sun:

Happy days - T.

One nice thing that I´ve found out, the men of this board are real sweeties. I´d say that more than 60% of the massages I´ve done so far were arranged by the husband for the wife. Usually as surprise for her. Now THAT is what I call SWEET! ;)

Dan Hazard, aka Xamachdan here.
After 15 years of real estate in the Seattle area, I am bringing it to Tulum on Jan 4, 2010.
I am with Re/Max Tulum, but my office will be down at km 32, Boca Paila Road. I will be specializing in Sian Ka'an and Punta Allen properties.
5 years ago I bought property in the Bioshere, and I can help you do it also. Website- www.siankaanrealestate.com (http://www.siankaanrealestate.com)
So come on down the road, stop in and have an ice cold beer, and let me show you what is available, and how to buy it.
I will be doing double duty, running Xamach Dos, a small eco resort with 4 cabanas, a restaurant, and 80 meters of Caribbean. Very remote, perfect for people who don't want the side by side and quickly multiplying places in the Tulum hotel zone. We have a great family living there, no neighbors,
and a great vibe, plus good fishing.
website- www.xamachdos.com (http://www.xamachdos.com)
So come on down the road, stop in and have an ice cold beer, and stay for a week or two at the most peaceful place on the coast.

Awesome, Dan, what a great new direction for you! And Matt, great to have a contact at Los Arboles too.

This thread was originally intended to be part of the FAQ section of the board. Is everyone OK with that? Or maybe I can make it a sticky?

There is a great tour company that does Muyil, Sian Ka'an Tours...
http://www.siankaantours.org/english/Muyil_forest_and_float/eng_muyil.php

Their main guide, Pastor is Fabulous. He and his family are from Muyil and have had lots of training and help to keep it the way it is, yet let people observe it.

Have fun!

Hello! I address this to the newbies, like myself, because so many of you experts here know Margo so well this might not be news to you but for those of you who don't know her, she is a great contact to have. Anyway, we set up what I think is going to be one of the most fun days EVER and I wanted to give others a heads' up in case they wanted to do the same:
We have booked Margo for - get this - a Pub/Salsa Crawl! Here's how it works: We pay for the Taxis and Margo's Food & Drink plus a little $ for her time. In return, we lay back and let Margo take us all around town and off the beaten path (yaaayyy!) to her favorite pubs, taco stands & restaurants! We sample the best of whatever food and drink each place has to offer and then move on to the next. How much fun is that going to be??!! :eat-drink: :star: To not have to spend any time wondering where to go...to hit all of the favorite places of somebody who lives there...nothing in my book could be better! Margo I am so excited!
Of course we've already scheduled Margo's professional massages on our deck for our first full day in Tulum and then, a few days later, Margo will also be taking us on a private 1/2 day driving tour of the Sian Ka'an (we'll be using her car but in the future, she'll take folks who are renting a car and use theirs instead). Both the massages and the Sian Ka'an Tour (for those of you who don't know, Margo worked in this area and knows it like the back of her hand) are very reasonably priced. Best of all, you feel like you're connecting with an old friend even though you haven't even met yet!
Margo's contact info is MargoInMexicoMassageAtHotmailDotCom.
OMG, how many days are left?? I can hardly stand it. :D

We enlisted the services of Jennifer at Marry Me Akumal to plan our commitment ceremony for us. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this lady is!! She was so easy to work with and made everything so simple for us to handle from the States. She was always prompt in responding to my emails, she allowed us to make payments toward our big day, she was great about making recommendations and answering all of our questions. She literally took care of EVERYTHING for us!! We ran into a few small issues that would typically panic the bride to be but Jennifer took care of those for us too! I didn't have to worry about a thing! I cannot tell you how grateful we are to have had her in our corner. Her attention to detail, her love of her work, and her desire to make her couples happy is unmatched! I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone thinking of getting married in the Riviera Maya. Thank you just doesn't seem to be adequate for all of her hard work!

Also, we had Turtle Bay do our catering and our cake... needless to say, the dinner was outstanding and the cake was not only beautiful but quite tasty! So.... with that.... THANK YOU JENNIFER!! You went above and beyond the call of duty and we appreciated it so much!!

Charlie and Marie from Tulum did our ceremony for us... they were amazing and the ceremony was magical!

You can check out her website at www.marrymeakumal.com

You can reach Jennifer at marrymeakumal@gmail.com.

Las Palmas Maya
20th December 2011, 10:01 AM
In addition to providing deluxe cabanas, a suite, communal kitchen and many other amenities to our hotel guests, Las Palmas Maya also offers a variety of services to all tourists visiting Tulum:

Bicycle Rental - Brand spanking new beachcruisers (a picture of our fleet is at the bottom of this post). Most rental bicycles in the area are in far less-than-new condition and don't always include a comfortable seat or a basket. Ours have it all! A top-quality seat that is comfortable, large basket on the front for groceries, souvenirs, water, etc and of course, a lock to keep your transportation safe while you explore!

Free Concierge Service - This is available to every visitor to Tulum, not just our hotel guests. Looking to maximize your time in Tulum? Rely on our friendly, bi-lingual (English as first language) staff to assist with booking excursions to enhance your vacation. We specialize in the "local experience" - no massive tour buses or name-badges here - just locals that are experts in their niche, have transportation and everything needed for the day's adventures. If you have questions about, or are interested in arranging SCUBA trips, snorkeling expeditions, visiting the ruins in Coba, biosphere trips, cenote swimming, underground cliff-diving (if you don't know, you should ask - incredible experience) or need airport shuttle service - we will be happy to help. As locals, we can also suggest a variety of local restaurants, stores and hotspots that we enjoy visiting - perhaps you will too?

Calls to US / Canada - Las Palmas Maya utilizes the ultimate in jungle internet technology and some good ole' fashioned American telecomm equipment to provide inexpensive, easy to use pay-phone service. You decide how many minutes you would like to have (30 minutes for 5 US, 60 minutes for 9US) and hold on to your minutes for as long as you're here. This means you can call friends / family to let them know you've arrived safe and use your remaining minutes to make calls on another day(s). Use a standard telephone and dial only your area code and number. No international dialing requirments or confusing messages!

For all services, please visit our website for location and contact information - if you're already here, we're at KM 9.5 across the street from Casa Violeta and OM - stop by and say hello!

Here are our bikes!
