I just read on their website you can get any room until dec something for 95 US a night. Is this place really aas nice as it looks? Should we book this one instead of the many other choices?

Zulum is very cool, and $95 would be an amazing deal IF you can get one of the beachfront rooms (actually, it's a deal for any of their rooms these days of higher prices, but for the real steal, go for beachfront). Will they let you reserve a specific room?
They have that nice little plunge pool and hip little beachfront bar area. Sue stayed there in 07, I think?

I stayed there in March 08 and I agree $95 is a great deal for any of the rooms
if you can get beach front go for it. I stayed in a double
room cause I was with my two kids but that was quite nice as well.
The plunge pool is really nice to have. For $95 it's a steal.

I have gotten a message saying that it has a really rocky beach. Is this any of your experience with it?

Who is saying that? I didn't experience any rocks. I also stayed at la Luna just next door to zulum this past April and didn't have any rock issues.

I stayed there in 2007 also. Check out my report on Zulum!! I loved it there! There are so many great places to stay though that you really can't make a bad choice!! I did love the suspended beds at Zulum!!

There are some rocks when you are about chest deep in water, but not a big deal.
Just make sure that $95 room is a room is actually a room you want. I recently read a bad review of Zulum that was booked by LG and LG had to do a lot to help the reviewer out. Might have been on TA.

The complaint you heard about rocks is just silly, IMO! It's one thing to be worried about that if you have a small, contained little beach, like Conchita has or like Copal has. But I'm sorry, down there on the south end you have miles of wide open beach. If you find a some rocks in the water, just move a few feet over! I don't think it should impact where you stay.
Now seaweed, that's a different story. Because in the places where it collects & builds up (most recently near Hemingway & Maya Tulum), it smells really badly and is pretty unsightly.
But the rock thing... that kills me!

I stayed at La Luna this past April and the preceding December. When you're about chest-deep, when you put your toes down after a wave, you might feel a bit of smooth rock underfoot, but this does not a rocky beach make, in my opinion. It can also change in a day depending on the tides and currents. I've also had it completely smooth underfoot there.
The sand part of the beach is pure as the entire south beach is, and a few smooth rocks below the water isn't an issue for me. I've stayed in placed north of Playa del Carmen where the ironshore comes right in, and you have to find a smooth place to even enter the water. That is NOT what's going on in front of La Luna.
I'm surprised someone actually reached out to you in private to say something like this. Wish they'd speak up here so we can see why they're saying it.
My friends swimming in the rocky water directly in front of La Luna:

Poor bird can't find grubs with all the rocks in the way.

All of these pics taken directly in front of La Luna in the past 8 months.
No worries, you're going to have a great time!

I always stub my toe on those rocks that the bird is trying to navigate around...:D

I always bring my hiking boots, it makes walking the beach much easier rather than twisting my ankle on those rocks.

Glad you liked them--I've actually got tons of pics of La Luna if you're interested. What room are you staying in again? Or were you going to wait and see what the new rooms were like? Sorry, I can't remember. Just PM me and let me know if you want to see more pics.

I'd love to see more Luna pics...I'll PM you later.
Right now I have to go explain to my 8 year old why we are not staying at Maroma (we watched a Travel Channel epi yesterday and Maroma was ranked as the best Caribbean resort.) He also wants to know why we aren't staying at the Four Seasons in Nevis when we go there for two weeks next Christmas...let's see, free house on St. Kitts or $500+ per night for the Four Seasons, hmmmm??? :O
Sorry, wayyy off topic...
