I'm arriving in Cancun late in the afternoon, we have a reservation in Suenos but we think we better stay in Akumal or Puerto Morelos the first night, we're traveling with 2 small children and the drive to Tulum, plus stop to buy late lunch or dinner etc...seems too much.
Do you guys have any ideas of where to stay in our way down? any cheap place in those places? We're going the first week of June 2010...(I'm a planner what can I said :)
Thanks!

Puerto Morelos would be a good choice (Akumal is too far--you might as well go all the way to Tulum if you go there). Cheap places to stay, nice restaurants, even a playground in the central square that they might like. And it's only about 20 minutes from the airport so you'll have some time to unwind.

There are other forums somewhat like this one that can give more specific PM information, but I know many of us here have stayed there so you might get some good suggestions here too.

I had made reservations here before my trip to Mexico was cancelled. They were really responsive and understood our situation. I would give them a try.

Thank you beachreader, I will look for more information. After I wrote Akumal last night I started to think that is very close to Tulum, PM is a better choice.
Thanks again :)

Rancho Sak Ol is a nice place just down the south beach. The posted rates are "negotiable" to a certain extent; maybe 10-15 % off if you haggle. Never spent much time there, it was just a place to park our weary heads after a late arrival.
