i have received lots of great information after my initial request about parayso hotel. we are now looking for a villa. we are splitting our trip with 4 days of city life in playa car/pdc and then 4 relaxing days in beautiful tulum to end our family vacation.
is anyone familar with these two villas?

Here is my take on Retiro Maya. It is just a little more north than Casa Tranquillo but still on a great section of beach. Here is a picture of it from Nov 2008.

Here is a close-up as I was hoping to get the web addy.

Then there is Casa Tranquillo. We just had a trip report recently from someone who stayed there. I remember the experience to be positive. Need to do a search to find it. But in the meantime, here is a picture of Casa Tranquillo.

I don't even know if we have ever heard of anyone staying at Retiro at all. There are so many properties down there we are not familiar with. Need to go more!:p

Really enjoyed Casa Tranquilo for our family trip this last March...here's the link to trip report. Location is wonderful on the beach.

Have plans to go back either this December or for sure in March.

Stayed at Casa earlier this year. Has a grrreat private beach area. Owners are nice and attentive. If you want a 3 bedroom house with a kitchen etc it's a good place. Might not be as fancy as some of the other houses but cheaper too. Enjoy!
