My wife and I stayed there in July 2007 and enjoyed it. It was nice to have a/c and the pool at that time of year. The restaurant/bar was not really functional at that time so we went to Tita Tulum's next door for our midday drinks and guacamole. We found the staff nice and helpful. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

If you are getting a good price I say go for it! There have been some questionable reviews of the place but if you take that into consideration you should be fine. One of our posters, Pepper, stayed there and didn't think too highly of the place.

Have you been to Tulum before??

Based on what I've heard, I think you get what you pay for there. Don't expect a lot of service, and some things might not be in working order. At least they weren't for pepper! But her family stayed there a while ago. Maybe it'd be different now. But somehow I doubt it.

How great a price, now that I think about it?? Maybe there is something else out there better?? Where have you checked???

What is your budget and the time of year you are traveling??

Hi there! Sorry, I hadn't seen this when I got your PM.

Sounds like a great group trip! So you're 9 people all together? And you'd like to spend $500/night total? Have you considered renting a house? A favorite house around here is Casa de las Palmas, they have three bedrooms, one of which has a queen plus two singles, so that could be a kid room, and I think Margo can find extra beds or some kid can sleep on a couch. It's a fabulous house, lots of pictures here: http://tulum.info/showthread.php?t=3660&highlight=casa+palmas

They don't have a pool or air-conditioning, but it's a big house with a beautiful chunk of beach and yard, a full kitchen (so you can save a lot of money on food and drinks by buying in town), grill area, kayaks & boogie boards and a volleyball net all ready to go.

They're also right next to La Zebra for the big Sunday night salsa dance party (complete with live band and dance teachers so everyone can participate), but far enough from the stage that it wouldn't be loud from the house.

I think, even though there's no pool, this would be perfect for you.
