so we finalized our lodging and are staying in the hechizo de luna suite at hechizo de luna (yay!) but now we're trying to plan what we're going to do while we're there....so i was wondering what tops people's lists of "must see" or "must do" in tulum and close by. we're there for 7 full days mid august so we've got time to explore as well as just lounge on the beach. so what are your top picks?????

:):):)When you get a ticker i will give you an answer!:):)
Just kidding!
BTW: we are staying there end of Oct , 3 nights.
See: Take lots of long walks. You can do the tulum ruins, but go early in the day to avoid crowds and heat.
GO INTO THE PUEBLO...very cool place, and don't stick to the main drag. Lots of interesting things, and good veggies and taco stands there. Lots of good places to eat, i would suggest reading trip reports and info reports on this forum.
You will love it there.
Like the mixmix store in town and on the beach road for souviners and well done crafts.
Zamas comes up in the restaurant thread, but the past 2 years it has been a hit and miss, and i think we will be avoiding it this year...
LA ZEBRA: Yummmy food and great beverages...
Too many to mention..so read the thread mentioned before.
Tulum is addicting!

If your first time:
Ruins as stated. Come early leave early.
Pueblo yes. Very funky town.
One more suggestion: Gran Cenote just outside Tulum on Coba road. Nice place to spend an afternoon.
Hope this helps.

I always go down full of "good intentions" to see what I haven't seen before. I manage maybe one new thing every trip. I find that I just can't leave that wonderful beach.:p
I would pick maybe two places you must see and take it from there. If you want to see a ruins, my first choice would be Coba. You could then combine that with a trip to a Cenote on the way home.
Another outing I absolutely enjoyed was Punta Laguna Monkey Preserve. That you could also combine with Coba.
Have you used the search function here yet?? Here is a tutorial for using it ~ really simple and will give you lots of info for you to make your decisions as to where you might want to go.

Also you will find our restaurant thread like ILW said ~ go ahead and read that ~ it might help you decide where you might want to eat!! Then do a search on it!! We have found that there is really no consistancy to a place. People have had all different experiences at the same place.

Just visit our Resource & FAQ threads and you will get a good place to start your search.

You could also pick up a ticker there too!!
Happy searching!!

Minniemex is right...make a list of "possibles" but dont freek if you dont make it to them all. Just a great reason to go back....for instance...I have been there going on 6 or 7 years now and still have yet to see the ruins up close... My hubby did this year finally but I opted for a beach day instead.
one of my all time fav things is do Bronco Pollo to go and take to the beach... :D
P.S. Welcome to the board...

You should take a part of the day and check out the ruins. Awe inspiring they are......6-7 years is too long to wait!
I always imagine what it was like way back then---while standing and walking where people walked all those years ago....
btw--pollo bronco, chicken place, right? Had some chicken from Tulum once a couple years ago, and was it good!

thanks! the restaurant thread was super helpful. our places we're thinking are on the must sees: gran cenote, ruins (maybe take a trip to coba), and pueblo.
one more question, we're looking to get a massage one day, any recommendations?

Send a PM to MargoinMexico. Have heard lots of great things about her talent as a masseuse. Am planning on surprising my wife with a massage on our trip in November.
