View Full Version : Slow board Game!!

minniemex

Since the board is sooooooooo slow lately and we all need something to do other than work :D I thought we could just follow along the same path Beachreader started the other day. Post a picture of Tulum and we have to guess where or what it is. You can post pictures other than Tulum, but it must be something you have already posted here.

Here is my first photo for you to guess where/what this is ~ Picture #1

Clueless! BUT this is a good idea, and YES this forum has been slow. Left for 10 days, just got back and: Not a whole lot had happened here during our: Grand Canyon, Zion National park road trip. I'll check my picture stash and see if i can find something too!

We have a winner! Someone was paying attention during my trip report from a couple years back! Good memory. That thing scared the heck out of me in the shadows at night!

I'd love to claim credit for that sunrise but I'm pretty sure it was Kevin's doing. He's our resident photographer. But it is one of my absolute favorites! We've had trips where we've had hardly any good sunrises, and we've had trips where we wake up to this almost every day. God, I love the beauty of this place.

The bay remains undeveloped...likely a victim of the economy, but I believe it is slated to be divided into lots and sold for high end homes. Access to the bay is fenced off, but I think they lease the beach to tour operators who bring groups in. As far as I know, no hotel is planned...Both Paradise Bay and Soliman Bay will be under the flight path for jets departing the new Tulum airport....

It's not Posada Margherita. I'll give you a little hint....look at the color of the fence. :D

I'm dying to know the answers to these. What a gorgeous cenote, are those scuba bubbles coming up, or is there some kind of natural bubbling going on there? And the hotel up top is really cool.Suspense no longer Beachreader...The cenote of which you speak is Ik-Kil near Chichen Itza. No natural bubbling, that's the "wake" my daughter left after jumping in. You can see part of the platform on the right. Very special place.

http://www.stampphotography.com/tulumcontest2.jpg

That really cool hotel is actually Mezannine! I haven't seen many photos of it from the beach looking at the hotel, but this shot is the left side of the hotel and the wooden structures are where the beach beds sit. My wife was up visiting with a couple that were in the room at the end, so I was making photos of that area of the hotel.

OK, OK. It's Uno, the view from the top of the dune looking back down to the beach, along the fronts of the north units. The big Electra unit that most of us know and recognize as Uno is out of sight to the right on the beachfront.

From this perspective, Shambala Petit is immediately to the left behind these buildings.

Oooooh...very good! The mannequins were at a storefront on the south end of the Pueblo...east side...and this was before the margarita, thank you very much!

The only quibble is the location of the the Maya Spa's clifftop massage palapas...they are on the south end of the pocket beach between Azulik and Zahra. The cliffs are a dramatic, albeit breezy, setting for a massage or spa treatment.

This is a tough one, trying to narrow down the really large palapa buildings on the beach road. It's not Zamas, not Pez, not La Vita e Bella, so maybe Ana y Jose Beach Club? If I get a second guess, maybe Ak'iin? That's an unfair guess b/c I've never seen the inside of Ak'iin's space.

Yes on 2 & 3...

more hints:

#1 is on the main drag in Tulum, if you can identify the building to the left, you win.

#4 is also in Tulum, the interior of a restaurant visible from the dining area. This is the hardest one....I've never heard anyone report eating here but me.

#5 is NOT in Tulum....but there are clues in the picture as to what, if not where, it is....

Hmm, trying to figure out your hint. I'm thinking that the biggest hint is too blurry for me to read--is that a series of three clocks with times in various places over the waiter's shoulder? Maybe not, could just be decorative plates or something.

The fact that this isn't in Tulum should make me feel better, but I'm still dying to figure it out.

Sorry Lynnette, I didn't mean to be confusing....the answer I was looking for was.....the NEW Oscar Y Lalo's on the highway. I wasn't clear if you were referring to the main building of the OLD restaurant or the new one. You definitely earned the win by recognizing the furniture!

Wow, how ironic that it was Magico Amenecer! That's where we just stayed, completely different. Now that it's a two-story building, that unit doesn't have palapa, and the hand rail isn't wood (well, not rustic wood like that). When I was thinking NV, I was thinking one of the more rustic units, like Amor Eterno.

Good one!

Beachreader, I am not sure, but I think that is one of Zahra's cabanas in my photo. You can barely see the edge of Posada del Sol where Maverik's photo is, on the far right of my shot. They are sandwiched in there so closely and do share the La Conchita beach or next door at Piedra Escondida's pocket beach.
When we were at La Conchita, it did not seem to be overly crowded and there were plenty of chairs to go around. Azulik also shares that same pocket. The sand is nice, it is semi-private and it's just a short walk to the wide open freedom of the southern end.

Happy days - T.

I do believe it is part of Zahra's property, but stand to be corrected. It's been quite awhile since I stayed at this property.
