Hi,

I found a listing on craigs list for tulum beach rentals. The email said the rental is 4 properties down from Dos Ceibas. She can rent the studio , bedroom, bath, kitchen- it looks like a private residence with several units - for $40 per night if we book the whole week and pay on pay pal. She also says 1 minute walk to the beach. Do you think it's across the road? And, therefore, overly hot???? $40 a night seems like a great deal on the beach!

Anyone know what/where this might be? Or have any experience with renting?

It does sound like it isn't right on the beach. Does s/he say whether there are ceiling fans and/or AC?

Did they have pictures on the advertisement, or is s/he willing to send you some?

I'd be skeptical if I were you.

There are some condos in the biosphere that Dale and heenan have rented (Casa de las Olas and Casa S-something), and there are a few rental homes in the area booked through locogringo. You might look into those if you want to be right on the beach (and much cooler).

There are pictures in the craigs list ad - it looks nice. I'm pretty sure it's probably across the beach road. She says it's 1 min walk from cenote salvaje if anyone knows where that is. I doubt there's AC, or she would have mentioned it, but I will ask if there are fans. Here's the link to the ad:

Here's (http://www.todotulum.com/downloads/tulum_map.pdf) a map of the Tulum Beach with Dos Ceibas shown on the map. I would ask specific questions about the location; which side of the road? What property is next door? Is that a young person walking quickly for a minute to get to the beach or could a 70 year old really get there in a minute? :)

Does she mention what property you can cut through to get to the beach? Do they make you pay for access - like a beach club?

You will need ceiling fans if traveling in summer - it is HOT!! And bring lots of bug spray - there is no beach breeze on the jungle side and the mosquitoes find you fast!! Ask if all the windows have screen on them.

It seems to me that there was quite a bit of building going on on the other side of the road when I was down there, in addition to what La Zebra had going on. I would bet those rooms are on the jungle side of the road for sure.

I would also question the "beach" access and what kind of chairs they have on the beach, if any.
