I was wondering if anyone has stayed at Playa Azul or remembers walking around the property? The pics on todotulum look really good. Trip advisor only has a couple of reviews but both were good. I sent in a request for rates and availability and got a quick response for that. I'm waiting now for answers to some other questions like screens on windows, etc.

I've tried to find a website for this property but can't seem to find one...does anyone know if they have one and what it is? That was also one of my questions in my email to them but thought someone here might give me a quicker answer. It goes by the name of Hotel Rancho Playa Azul. Appreicate any help you can give me!

I took a bunch of pictures and posted them last December. Try doing an advanced search for threads by me with Playa Azul. I might have even titled the thread that.

It's a cute little place on a fabulous stretch of beach. They have beach furniture now, too, which is a plus (they didn't have any when I first saw it).

They're pretty rustic for what they charge, I think. The first time I saw it, I was quoted very cheap rates, I think 85 for beachfront and 70 for the top of the dune, but I found out later they'd started charging 165 for the beachfront and 140 for the top of the dune, which seemed high to me, but maybe only because it was such a jump from where it started.

Still, it's an amazing stretch of beach and a great location.

Just wanted to let y'all know I got some of my answers from Playa Azul...very good and quick responses to emails in case anyone wants to stay there.

Right now they don't have a website but are working on setting one up. They also don't have a paypal account but are also working on that. They just got through installing screens on the windows and have 24/7 solar electricity. I still would love to hear any opinions if anyone has stayed there.

We're set on go now...room finally booked, airline tickets bought, car reserved and Hidden Worlds skybike/zipline booked...now the looooong wait begins!:D

Thanks Beachreader...I do seem to recall your report on Playa Azul...will have to find it.

I was quoted $120 for the very front cabana, $90 for the others that are beach front and the ones further back were $80. Keep in mind that August in Tulum is considered "high season". She asked what price range I was looking for and when I told her less than $100 w/taxes included she gave me the $120 cabana for $100 w/taxes. We are so excited...that cabana looks perfect with the porch!!:D

Sounds like they're still working on their prices. That's a great deal, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
