Does anyone have any experience diving the Punta Allen/Sian Kaan area?
Any info re dive operations, sites, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I am interested in both reef and cenote diving. Thanx

Hola! Welcome!!!!
James and Lee are probably our resident experts on diving in the area. I did a search for you (if you click on Search, then click on "Advanced Search" you'll find a great tool for searching the forum - just remember to search as posts! It's way easier...) - I used the terms "cenote" or "dive" and James or AdGuy (Lee) as an author and came up with a few threads... I'm guessing they'll chime in with more info, or others who have experience w/ diving will...

I've never scuba dived (scuba dove...I never know how to say that :D) south of Tulum. In fact, most of my Mexico diving has been in Cozumel or the Isla Mujeres area. I know there are dive boats that will take you down to Punta Allen to dive but I've not heard rave reviews on any specific areas down there. Here's some popular sites for scuba and snorkeling along the Mexican Riveria...

James might have different experience as he lived in PDC for many years.

I know I stand to be corrected by those with more expeience than myself, but, if the snorkeling is any indication of the quality of Scuba down there, save your money; goto Coz. Just did it last week and it was no better than mediocre.

Hi, I'm sort of back.... Sorry it took me a while to get to your PM....
So, to answer your question..........not sure, but will try to find out.
My guess is that the diving is excellent as the guy that originally built Xamach was a diver and lived here 10 years before moving to Majahual. BTW I know the snorkeling is amazing if you get good conditions. The coral is very healthy and alive here. We have turtles, dolphins as well as every size, color and shape of fish:wave:! :dolphin::dolphin::dolphin::wave::wave:
That said, I don't know anyone who takes people diving...........but I bet there is someone so will start asking around. When is your trip?
See you then!:beerchug:

"Hotel Akumal CANCUN?"
Is that a prophecy of what?
Lee..There are cabanas for rent in Punta Allen, but nobody ever seems to give them a name..lol. I would love to know more about them, what the cost is, etc.
I agree though, Niki's place is amazing and would be a great prospect in accomodation if you decide to stay in Punta Allen.
