Hi Friends of Tulum,
My partner and I will be arriving on April 24th for 10 days. We haven't figured out where to stay yet. We will then go on to Palenque, etc...

We need to stay under $100 a night...ideally, but want something a little nice...not delux though...
We are vegetarians. We are a responsible, fun, multi-racial couple.
Into art, activism, music...not into "partying," but not uptight
Looking for some beautiful, quiet beaches and some deep R and R, after a busy year working with homeless youth, and organizing projects for social change and environmental health.

If anyone is arriving in Cancun on the 24th and would like to share a ride south that eve (around 6pm) let us know...

Any other thoughts about places not to miss, or places to stay, etc...feel free to share.

I may be into trading my Bay Area home for a spot in Tulum for 16 days if you know anyone ready to get out of the heat.

Many blessings to all!

Alli and Ashel:palmtree:

Welcome. Wow, you're going to be leaving pretty soon! I can't offer much advice on hotels because I haven't been down there yet, but I'm sure people will chime in soon. We're staying at CESiak, which seems more rustic than deluxe, but you might look into it. http://www.cesiak.org/index.htm It's under $100 a night and in the nature reserve. Be sure to update us when you get back from your trip. I've been wondering how veggie-friendly the area is, so let me know! :)

I guess my suggestion is boring, as it is always the answer I give for "budget" accomodations. Cabanas Tulum cannot be beat. They are on a great part of the beach, have an awesome patio area where you can hang hammocks, not too great beach chairs :o, but still, for $70 a night, cannot come close to that price and get the location. It is not "deluxe" by any means, but if you want more, you will have to pay for it - or not get your "beachfront" accommodations. There are accommodations that are nicer, but would not be directly on the beach.

You might want to stop at La Luna where they have a cabana that goes for under $100 -

Have a great trip!! And report back to us when you return!!

You might also check in with Dan at xamachdos.com. He might be fully booked, and not sure what his price range is.

Your best bet might be to go down there without reservations (since you're so close to the trip anyway!) and bargain for a nice room somewhere! Not sure how booked up places are right now.
