There is a nice Tulum trip report on Fodors and the poster mentions this restaurant. What is it and where? Thanks

here is the excerpt, I am interested in the "T" place. Thanks!!

As for other food, we had a meal at Zamas (terrific!) Charlie's in Tulum Pueblo (tourist trap!), and Ana y Jose, where I found several hairs in my food. We also ate at this tiny restaurant across from Hemmingway, it started with a "T" and I cannot remember its name. It was lovely though - completely candlelit, the two chefs, clearly very much in love, living out their dream of operating a small, delicious restaurant in a remote beach area. They cooked by candlelight in an open air kitchen, hanging pots and mosaics, butcher block wooden tables, and it amazed us that they made all this beautiful food and juices (no alcohol here) without any electricity. They come from the Catalan region of Spain and are very sweet and laid back. Highly recommended

I read that same report and wondered what "T" was....
checked the restaurant sticky and my guess would be...

Trece Lunas – north of beach road. Bargainous. Good breakfast

?? Anyone verify?

WWW.TRECELUNASTULUM.NET (http://www.TRECELUNASTULUM.NET)

their map is not helpful in showing where they are lol.

If you search trecelunas here some posts come up and it was someone's top 2 restaurants! sorry can't remember who.

Oh probably...too bad it's not on the beach...I'm all about sitting on the beach while enjoying a nice meal.

I cut and pasted the part refering to El Tabano for ease here...

She was still asleep by the time I was ready for breakfast, so I headed across the street and up a bit to the brand-new beach road (but jungle side) restaurant called El Tabano. It’s a cool little place right across from Hemingway and Don Diego de la Playa. I suppose it could be hot on a hot, still day, but it’s much more open than, say, the Banana place at Nueva Vida, which really is tucked into the jungle. And on this day, it was cool and comfortable.

And my waiter was Israel, who had been my waiter at Dos Ceibas two years ago, and he remembered me. Crazy world. OK, so he wasn’t just my waiter, he ended up sort of caretaking a couple of British girls who were guests at Dos Ceibas when we were out in the pueblo drinking far too late at night and then we ended up at a beach party and he kept an eye on all of us, finally making sure the girls got back to their hotel OK. He’s a winner, that Israel. I don’t know if he’s an owner or the place or just working there, I meant to ask and then totally forgot.

I had their version of huevos ranchero, which came with toast, delicious marmalade, butter and excellent coffee, for a whopping 40 pesos. Pretty great, though some fans of the more massive versions of ranchero might find this a bit on the light side as it has no beans or avocado or that sort of thing. Basically it was just tortillas, eggs and salsa, but it was very good.

That would be the place, for sure. The Mariposas had a lunch there that they really liked as well. I'm all about the beachfront restaurants, but I'll definitely try these guys for dinner next time (especially if I can bring my own wine, a great way to save money).

Might need bug spray, but it's a really nice little place.

I'm hoping that is the place, I know it's not Trecelunas. We had a few meals there and the owner is not Spanish.
My father and family immigrated from Spain when he was 10 and I am always looking for real Spanish food. Hard to find.

So El Tabacon here we come...later of course!

El Tabano, but that's OK, I'm sure they'll forgive you when you show up and want to have Spanish food--they'll love you!!!

Definitely el Tabano. We did love this place (but were only able to eat there once) another reason that my Tulum jones is super enhanced right now. The food was really good and you could sit there and watch everything being made. Including this fruit marmalade that they served with breakfast which was our favorite. Also good coffee.

It'll be in my next trip report installment that I've been incredibly lax about.
We were also lax about taking our food photos before they were half eaten.
Sorry!!... It was like..stop eating!! I need to take a photo! and he was like for crying out loud!
