Should we bring mosquito stuff? We will be staying on the beach in Mayo...

I would.... you won't need it on the beach, but if you visit the ruins, Dos Ojos, the Sian Ka'an, or walk down the beach road, you'll want it.

Absolutely bring it and use it! I'm trying to use the eco-friendly stuff (which smells great, by the way, I'd like to use it as perfume), and it worked fine this past trip, but I don't think there were many out and about then. I carry the Deet stuff as well, just in case the bio stuff doesn't work when it's really put to the test.

A friend of mine just suffered through a severe bout of Dengue fever that required hospitalization, killing a whole week of his trip (1/3 of his total time in country). He was on the Pacific side, but I know it's around the Caribbean side as well, so we really need to be careful.

Bring the spray for mosquitoes...sometime even on the beach, if the breeze dies down, you might need it. Are there actual no-see-ums (not mosquitoes) in Mexico? Have encountered them in Florida...just curious.

Lynette, yes, I'm pretty sure there are no see'ums, though I don't know if they're the same kind. I just know I find mysterious bites that weren't necessarily from mosquitoes, since I can usually feel mosquitoes. There might also be a couple of different kinds of mosquitoes too; last year at Lamar the things that were biting my face while I was wrapped up in bed (foolishly refusing to use the netting) seemed smaller than regular skeeters.
