I read on another forum about yoga at Copal for $5 non-guest. Great deal. Any information or other ideas?
Maya Spa has some nice massages
http://www.maya-spa.com/treatments/massage.shtml
I believe the touch for two Windy and Mayaflay had was from here....
so perhaps it's worth the $240. But ouch. Is this the same one that Copal offers??
DH and I typically get couples' massages [he was not a massage guy until I booked one several trips ago].
but there's a place in Playa that's only $36, Veronica's although not on the beach [but wouldn't want a massage on that crowded beach].
so any other ideas?
I read about the White Spa on another thread. I'll look it up... found the post but nothing on the name? Anyone?
I've also read good reviews of the Mayan Tulum clay massages.

Trish, I had a massage at Ana y Jose that was good. Probably also on the pricey side--not sure what I paid now though.
I haven't seen reviews but Coqui Coqui also has massages--no idea about the cost...

Up and down the beach, you'll see signs for "massage". Pop into one of those places and hopefully you'll find a good deal. Most massages in the area are at US prices.

I did two massages (http://www.tulum.info/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.artist-at-large.com%2Fyucatan%2Fyucatanmayaspa.htm) at Copal (and an astrology reading : ) I've always held the belief that it matters who does the massage. Especially after my experience at Copal.
I also tried to to go to yoga every morning. If Maria is still teaching, she is a really good teacher and focused. Well worth 5 bucks.
I wouldn't drive to Playa to get a massage, when you can have one on the beach in Tulum and continue relaxing right after.

Definitely swing by the shop at Lamar one evening and talk to Sofia. She's amazing, really, and she'll just come to your room and do it on the bed (or floor, if you want shiatsu). I wasn't sure I'd like not having a proper massage table, but she's so good it didn't matter at all. My neck didn't even get stiff. Her rates are more reasonable than the spa rates IMO.
I have her e-mail if you want to book in advance. I was going to post it here, but remembered James' advice against that, so PM me if you want it.

Thanks. I'll wander up and down beach and check things out if interested. Otherwise, when I'm in PDC perhaps...or save it for another time.
DH and I typically enjoy a couples massage so we can get it done at same time. It's very relaxing before a long siesta.

When we stayed at Zulum, we had a couples massage right on the beach. They brought their own tables and it was great!! I don't know who they use (Zulum), but I did see alot of people traveling with their own massage tables. Maybe the hotel you are staying at can arrange or put you in contact with the people who come to you.

MM...that sounds nice too except I don't really like an audience when I get massaged although I suppose it doesn't really matter because really they'd only look for a sec or two and be on their way...
I'll consider it when I'm down. I'm sure La Luna would arrange something if I wanted, they are awesome with requests so far. LOL.:eat-drink:

I'm sure Luna would arrange something for you, and you can have it done on your deck, or maybe up by the wedding bower, which is a wee bit more private. If no one's in the Capt. Dave unit, maybe they'd let you have it up there, that would be a great place.

I had a massage at Coqui Coqui when they first opened a couple of years ago. It was great but I can't really comment on how they are now. The room was nice, very spa-like and modern. It had big windows that looked onto the beach but was private enough that I didn't feel 'on display' and you could hear the beautiful sounds of the surf. Afterwards I showered and I recall it being a nice bathroom, towels, lotions, bodywash etc. At the time, it was cheaper than Maya Spa or Copal because we were staying at Azulik later in the trip and I remember looking into a massage around there and thinking that I got a great deal, on the Tulum beach, for less $$. But as I said, it was a few years ago in 2006.
