Where are you staying? I'm all about a good view, but I generally don't want to travel much in the a.m.

My favorite view would be Mayan Grill, but I don't know if they're open for breakfast. Zamas has a great view and really good breakfast food. Maya Tulum has great breakfasts and you'd have a view if you sat by a window.

Yeah, I'm with BR on Zamas. Great view and great breakfast food.

I'm guessing most votes would be for Zamas or Mezzanine!

I like to stay somewhere that either offers breakfast onsite or has a nice patio where I can have a little snack in the morning on my own, to save a few pesos for later.

I'm not going to recommend Los Lirios but that was a fantastic perk. Free breakfast each morning. It was an American continental breakfast...eggs, bacon, toast, coffee. Nothing spectacular, but it was there and waiting each morning.

Yeah, I'm like beachraider, I just like to wake up with the sun and hang out and relax in the morning. I loved breakfast at Suenos - they had a wonderful dining area perched in the perfect spot... :(

Breakfast at Tita's is decent too. But if I was purposely going out for breakfast for a few and good eats, I'd probably go up to Zamas.

What's my best bet close (walking distance) to Cabanas Yulum?

I think you can get breakfast right there, no? Ana y Jose is right next door. Depends on how far you want to walk. Uno is a bit further south, and Tita Tulum a bit further.

Los Arrecifes (sp?) is a bit to the north, as is La Luna and Zulum. Not sure which places do breakfast just for guests vs. open for anyone, though.

I'd like to try La Luna even though Rene will be gone and definitely Tita because of reviews...maybe I'd like to see these places as much as eat.

Oh here is a breakfast question. Has anyone ever seen an egg white omelette on the menu? I don't do yolks and that didn't seem to be an option the last time down.

Thanks all for your input. We have our own place there which is where we will be staying.Just looking for a great breakfast with a great view while chowing down!
P.S.-Doug SR-this time going to really try and get to the Mayan Grill.Last trip we didn't have time.We were too busy running back and forth to the lawyer in Playa which will not ever happen again! Why spend the money to go and spend the majority of the time in a lawyers office. Can do that at home!

Doug, that's an interesting question. I've not yet seen just egg whites on a menu, but maybe you can figure out a way to ask for it and see what happens? Chef Freddy at Om made me an egg white thing that was really cool, but that was out of the ordinary.

Maybe you can order something with fried eggs (like rancheros) but ask for them well done, and you can cut around the yolk part? Or is it that the yolk part grosses you out?

At CT, you can get a variety of items, and maybe bring it back to your patio if it's too hot back there (the restaurant is behind the buildings). Los Lirios, of course, is right next door if you have a hankering. :)
