That is not the reason. The plumbing system simply isn't designed to handle it. It will clog. I don't think there are many septic tanks in the region, and I've never had one during all my years in Mexico. I lived in over a dozen different places in four different cities.

But easier said than done...it's just habit! And as soon as I'd drop it in the toilet, I'd remember I'm not supposed to...opps. I got better, but don't think I ever had a day where I didn't flush the TP at least once.

It's so ingrained in me now I almost never forget anymore, but we used to do a lot of houseboating trips, and the rule is the same on boats so we were used to is--if you didn't eat it, don't put it in the toilet. And the rule is even more serious on a boat because if you're the cause for 13 people to have to all use just one toilet (or none), you are NOT a popular person!

Sometimes when I get home I actually have to think twice and drop it in the toilet.
