Hello All!

Thank you for providing such an amazing resource!

My boyfriend and I bought fairly last minute tickets to fly to Cancun March 26 - April 2. We hope to head to (via the bus?) to Tulum and spend the week on the beach there. However, I have emailed 8 hotels and have found no availability. We don't need much - just a clean place with fresh air. Think we can wing it when we are there? We will also want to travel to a few ruins, including Chichen Itza (we are both architects.) All for now -

Hi AJM! Congrats on the last minute flight! The reason you're not finding any availability is because that's Easter week in Mexico - a big vacation time for the locals. I'd keep trying as many places as you can. If you don't find what you want in Tulum, there are other places to explore too. (Puerto Morelos, Akumal, PDC)

You might also look into Dan's place in the reserve, Xamach Dos. Also try Jade and Sol Caribe.

If you don't get any replies then definitely just wing it. There are so many places up and down the coast, I'm sure you'll find something. You might also look into Mahahual or Xcalac, further south. Mahahual has been in recovery mode after last year's hurricane really devastated the area but I know they have done a LOT of work there to get hotels and restaurants opened up. You might find more availability there and have the place nearly to yourself!

I just got a response from Posada Lamar for Bungalow Lapiz for $165/night. So that's a possibility, though it is more than we were hoping to spend.

I'll also check out the other areas you mentioned! So much to research!!! Fun, fun!
