I know we've been teasing about it, and I can't commit to anything until I know the exact dates of my November sales conference, but I am definitely going down to stay at La Luna for at least a week, maybe longer, in either late October/early November or late November/early December, probably the latter.
A brief check of Rene's booking calendar shows things are still relatively open for that period, but that's not going to last long given the reputation they're rapidly building.
I have two or three friends from my real life who want to come too.
Is it too early to throw this out there for discussion, given that I don't yet know exactly when I'll go?
Rene, I call Marrakesh!

Welcome Home Beachreader/raider! I can't wait for the trip report. Obviously you liked Marakash at La Luna which thrills me as we have reserved it for Xmas (changed from Casablanca) and since you were busy with Rene, wining and dining, we've been emailing with the owners. So excited about it, and they have been enjoyable to work with. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Anyway, get your work done and then get back to the forum. We are all waiting anxiously for those great pices and reports you do so well.

Hi, Grace! You're going to love La Luna, I'm sure of it. Marrakesh has, essentially, two bedrooms. They're not walled off completely from one another, but they're separated by the bathroom, so it's like it's half-walled. One bed is right off the front deck, the other is in the "back" of the unit, with a smaller deck that views out over the jungle. You'll have sunset views from there!
I'm not sure I'd call the beds true American-style queens in size, but they're very nice beds, and you'll have that whole other room for putting your stuff.
There's not a loser unit in the place that I could see, but there is definitely a size/price ratio in play. The cool thing is that if you can handle a smaller indoor space (like Robinson Crusoe), you're not giving anything up in terms of view. All five of the main units have stunning views, outdoor space with tables, chairs and hammocks, and all the nice communal space as well. And they're all beautifully decorated.

Count me in!!!!! :) :) :) :)
BR, do you think you'll know dates by the time we would have to reserve w/ La Luna?

Hopefully I'll know my schedule a little better after this week, but the time that's really affected by conference is the earlier time (late October/early November). I'm generally safer later, like right after Thanksgiving into early December, so that might be the better bet.

HI BR, thanks for taking the time to respond. Since at Xmas we have a 7-day min. stay, I wanted more space! And after seeing the pics from another tulum poster (can't remember the name right off, but he is in trip reports) I thought the upstairs deck was awesome. Afterall this is OUR Xmas present, so I am willing to spend more. Henne was great to talk with; coffee issues and all things you and I had chatted about earlier - she was so great - we can use the kitchen and they will make my breakfast lunatic DH anything he wants and even deliver it to him on our deck. Awesome. She thinks they will be there at Xmas too; so that could be interesting - how they found it, renovated, - all those things we'd want to do, but never get off the dime. I am very excited about it. Even though its what - NINE months away.
However, never count me out for a Tulum forum trip in Nov. I can do a reconaissance mission for our trip!

The only thing that could get in the way for me is the Thanksgiving or Xmas holidays. We didn't travel for Thanksgiving this year, but I usually need to use a lot of vacation time at Xmas since we don't live near our families. Not sure I could do a week in early Dec and another week between Xmas and New Year's. This year is an Iowa Xmas for us, with my husband's family.
But that's a long way off - who knows what'll be going on! But let's keep talking and see how things shake out....

I don't yet know our family plans for either holiday, so that could be an issue for me too. I was just thinking of work so far. But somewhere in that 6-week stretch, late October-mid-December. If early works better for you, that's cool.
