Heading down next week -- what would people recommend for two swimmers (not snorkelers) that isn't too far from the beach?
(We hate crowds, noisy children splashing and fighting, et cetera -- the quieter the better for us...)
Thanks in advance!

We went to Dos Ojos on the recommendation of one of the locals. I can't tell you if it was the best or anything since we only went to that one so I have nothing to compare against, but for us it was great. Very little people, some scuba divers in the cave system, but not intrusive at all. The entrance fee was $8/pp.
Here are some photos from Dos Ojos:

I wish I had better photos of the cenote itself, but in the rush to hit the water and get out of the heat I forgot all about documenting it better. :)

Hey JG,
I'm a bit of a cenote cona"sewer" who happens to be CBC (childless by choice) so perhaps I can provide some guidance...
The most remote (non-kid, non-anybody) would be south of Tulum at Cristal and it's sister cenote, Escondido. Very remote, jungle-like and inexpensive at about 40 pesos/person.
As mentioned, Dos Ojos is a good choice but I'd also highly recommend Gran Cenote is also a great option (also at a 80 peso/person admission) with wonderful stalagtites/stalagmites. Definitely worth checking out.
