Though my Spanish is limited to "Donde esta el bano" and "No mas" I am humbled and honored to join this august group. Your passion for Tulum et al is eerily similar to the fanaticism many of us have for Windjammer Cruises (and that, my friends, is a very good thing).

I've traveled virtually the entire Caribbean (except the Caymans and my deeply beloved Jamaica), but this'll be my first trip (my girlfriend's second) to PDC and Tulum (April 19-27). Very excited.

We're staying four nights at Posada Lamar and three nights in PDC (got a convention to schlep to). Found the amazing restaurant guide y'all culled together (magnifique!) Also renting a car from Continental (never would have known about 'em without this site - stellar work). This is really an invaluable resource; so, to every one of you who contribute, thank you.

Have so many questions, starting with: arriving at CUN April 19 at around 5 pm, picking up the car and heading south. Where is a good place to stop and pick up provisions (ie water, etc.) Should we just try to handle in PDC or are there stores in Tulum open past 7 pm or so? Also, suggestions on dinner the first night in Tulum? In the pueblo or on the beach? (hint, Angela's already craving street tacos).

Gracias! :chimpanzee:

Hello all,
Been lurking on locogringo for a while, but first time posting. My wife and 2 friends & I are currently planning a trip to Soliman Bay/Tulum for October. Seems way too far away...
We stayed at Casa Nah Uxibal on our honeymoon 5 years ago and loved it. Considering Villa Dolce Vita this time. Any thoughts?

Welcome to Tulum Info KY Ken! Nice to see another Bluegrass resident on our forum.
I have not stayed on Soliman Bay, but I do know it to be a peaceful area of beautiful villas and casitas and have heard great things about Dolce Vita. I do believe there is one recently opened open air low key restaurant there now, good news as Oscars is no longer on the bay but across the highway on the jungle side now.

Hi James,
I had looked through various places to try to find a report link but was unable to find one. I may just be really tired and overlooked it. Anyway, I received a private message from someone who has already been blocked from the forum. When I went in to try to block so that I could not receive further messages, it said that person was not a member. Anyway, I wanted to report the situation and also find out how to proceed.
Thank you! Lisa

Hello. We are a couple in our late 30s from Mass. who are getting married in October. After exhaustively searching for a Carribbean destination, we settled on Talum. I was hoping to glean some additional information from you nice folks. We aren't really the all-inclusive massive resort type, so we are hoping to book a smaller, quaint place on the beach. We have narrowed it down to Ana y Jose, Zamas, La Vita and Playa Azul. Any insight on these would be great (or others). We really just want to relax with decent accomodations and pleasant hosts. We would also like to have a place with a restaurant and bar. Thanks in advance for any help. :beerchug:

Welcome!

Please start your own thread under introductions so everyone can say "HOLA". Congrats on the wedding. You will love TULUM. There is a fantastic thread on here called 'wedding' or something like that where someone did a ton of research for their wedding. I'll move it forward under general discussions so you can read it!!

I've always thought of her more as our crazy aunt from the west coast:cool:
