Hope you don't mind if I post a consolidation link to our May 2007 Azulik-Tulum trip reports, to put them all on one page. I should have done this at the time, but lately, I have gotten a lot of inquiries from travellers on T.A., so I think this may make it easier to send one link in my response to them.

I came here to search for your trip report...much easier! :D
Azulik sounds fantastic...the only aspect that doesn't appeal to me is the clothing optional. Too bad they don't have a sister hotel that requires clothing. LOL. But your vacation sounds lovely [minus the shopping..I hate shopping.]

Actually, they do have a sister hotel that is textile, it is down the road a few doors, called Zahra. http://www.zahra.com.mx/

At Azulik, you can be clothed, and a lot of guests are. This isn't a nudist resort or anything like that. They just offer another aspect to your relaxation.

I know I'm a little late, but wanted to say thanks for the excellent report. Full of very valuable information that I'm sure will help me out.

Windy,

great report amigo...you and your wife seemed to have a uber-relaxing time! Speaking of sunrise photos, I took this one my final morning. This is in May '06 at Ana Y Jose. It has been compressed to fit on here, but click on it for a larger image:

Fantastic trip report you two. I couldn't help but read all the way through in one sitting. By the way, I also throughly enjoyed the photos. Very colorful, captivating, and tasteful.

Thanks Gabe...we really loved Tulum...looking forward to our return soon...and to see the changes to the Copal beach. They built a stone wall to help hurricane proof it, and added more palapas. Should be even better!

oh man... I originally had written out Azulik after my initial infatuation.. because I thought maybe it's over priced for what it is after I really thought about it and compared the amenities to other places.. (not a great swimming beach) but after seeing your trip report... Azulik is back in the running!!!

Azulik is running some specials including March 2009:

http://www.ecotulum.com/winter_special.html

20% Spa credit
or
4 nights for price of 3
or
7 nights for price of 5

The latter two include a continental breakfast...so the effective nightly rate gets closer to $200! (be sure to read the fine print on the web site)
