I've been AWOL for so long. I'm sorry.... but now I'm back!
Dusting off:
Trip report part 1 (http://www.tulum.info/showthread.php?t=982), part 2 (http://www.tulum.info/showthread.php?t=986), part 3 (http://www.tulum.info/showthread.php?t=1009)
Where was I? Saturday at La Conchita, starting to think about lunch. Gosh, it seems so long ago now. We've had weeks and weeks of rubbish weather in England, like the planet forgot there's meant to be a season called summer, and a whole heap of boring work for me to do. Looking back at these beach photos seems unreal. Now if I can just relax and remember being there...
So... lunchtime. We planned on going to Trece Lunas for lunch but that was shut, as was Luna Maya, so despite the fact we would be returning there later that evening we decided to go to Zamas. It's a place we ended up going to several times, and it certainly charmed me. What is it about Zamas I wonder? The setting is lovely, with a wide vista overlooking a little bay. The road does run alongside the beach beyond, but it's not that close to the restaurant really. I loved the sand between my toes, the bright painted wooden chairs and tables and the inside-outside feel of the roofed shady area. Something about the atmosphere at Zamas appealed to me. And I've not even mentioned the food yet! This lunchtime I had some tasty, simple pasta with a fresh tomato sauce, proceeding carefully with my first proper food in 24 hours. Adam had some quesadillas which hit the spot for him. No beers right now but a replenishing and refreshing liquado de piņa, a Mexican drink of water, ice and pineapple juice. Very good. This all cost us about $200 pesos.

I needed this
Feeling rather better for some good food, but still not at 100%, the most attractive option for this hot afternoon was pink, woven, and hanging ready outside the cabana. That's right - hammock time. I'm not quite sure how we managed it, but somehow we found a way of carefully positioning ourselves so we could both be perfectly comfy in the same hammock. If either of us moved slightly, maybe to reach down for a drink or to turn the page of our book, the comfy thing all went wrong and we had to shift about all over again trying to figure it out. It would have been funny to watch.

Happy place
And so the afternoon passed by peacefully and soon it was 6pm and time to return to Zamas to meet Dan and Chris for drinks. My first ever real life internet people! What would they be like? Would we recognise them? How could we escape if they turned out to be weirdos or bores?
Luckily, we didn't have to worry about escaping as we soon realised Dan and Chris are lovely lovely people. A pina colada made me feel right as rain again, and drinks turned into dinner and chatting into the evening about Tulum, honeymoons, Mexican food and I don't know quite what. As the sunlight faded and tables filled up around us we tucked into some excellent and good value pizzas ($95 pesos) and made our plans to go to Coba together on the Wednesday.
With that we bade our new friends goodnight, wishing them a happy anniversary for the next day, and went promptly to bed, feeling happy, tired, relaxed and full.
