OK - Enuf already. Here we go! Sheesh, you people! ;)
Epilogue
Awake and back to work 4 hours after returning home, and then an 18 hour day. 4 more hours sleep, and then a normal workday - with beer. You can see why it's taken awhile to get to the epilogue of our trip!
Tita Tulum Summary:
We had been looking forward to our stay at Tita Tulum for a year, ever since last year's trip when we had stopped in for breakfast and decided we'd never again stay at where we had been staying. The anticipation might have been a booby trap for Tita's, as we may have built it up too much. But that was not the case. We loved our stay, thoroughly enjoying Cabana #5. The cabana was large, bright, airy, with ample closet space, a large bathroom and a nice big shower. The breezes we received from the ocean facing windows made it unnecessary to turn on the ceiling fan in the evenings. The breeze also kept any bugs at bay, and we enjoyed swinging out in the hammocks on our porch in the evenings before heading inside. And the little foot washing basin outside the door is a very nice touch.

As for the staff at Tita Tulum, we also were amazed. Ninfa is a doll, and we look forward to seeing her again. On her off days we had a waiter who's name I didn't catch, but he was funny and quite attentive as well. Even the maid staff was friendly and talkative, and even made the obligatory towel animals one day. I know this is probably common at the AI's but was a nice touch near the end of our stay.

After I had been back home I sent Tita a nice note to compliment her hotel and especially her staff. I hope Ninfa gets a raise out of that! I know there are plenty of other nice spots along the beach, but as for location (not too far north - not too far south), accommodations, staff, and beach - we'll be staying at Tita's for a few more trips.
Things we're glad we did:
Staying at Tita Tulum (DUH!)
Caribbean Car Rental - great service, very nice car, good prices.
Coba
Monkeys
Meeting Joelle and Adam
OK - that list above is in no particular order, just in case anybody thinks we enjoyed monkeys more than Jo and Adam!
Things we didn't get to do:
Oscar y Lalo's beach
Ana y Jose's beach club - not sure why we missed since we were right next to it. Subliminal aversion to beach clubs maybe?
Those ruins on 307 just south of the Pueblo - forgot the name.
Cenotes! We got as far as the parking lot this year, perhaps next year we'll venture on inside.
Things we'll do differently:
Next year I am really, really, really gonna try to schedule a day at home following our trip so I can recoup a little bit. But couldn't I just do this on the beach before we leave? GAH! I don't know how I put up with me sometimes!
Things we should do in the future:
Definitely gonna have dinner one night at Dos Ceibas. I gotta see that lantern wall all lit up!
Not sure if we'll do any of this next year or not, but I'd like to eventually head further south for a day or two. Mahajual, or perhaps Punta Allen.
We also want to see other ruins, maybe travel a bit more inland.
And so, that's about it. We loved our trip, but now it's back to reality. Next year we are going to attempt to run the London Marathon in April and then head back to Tita's in May, so when you see Chris and I in our sandals - please don't make fun of our feet. And don't worry, Chris' toenails usually grow back in about 6 months!
Cheers,
Dan
