In honor of Lee's birthday, I'll start my posts a little early. Happy B-Day AdGuy!
Tulum 2007 - A Trip Report
PROLOGUE
Last year we discovered a new paradise called Tulum. In summary, Chris and I were married on Cozumel in 2000, and like to return to Mexico for our anniversary each year. However, our 2005 trip to Cozumel was a little disappointing, it's just not the same as it was. So we left last year to find a new place to unwind. Tulum it was.
And while last year's trip introduced us to the beauty and relaxation that we were searching for, we had picked a poor hotel location to stay at. OK, I picked the location. But while walking south to find a better beach, and a hotel with a more pleasant staff, we stopped into Tita Tulum one morning for breakfast. And over a cup of coffee with my lovely bride, we decided where our 2007 accommodations would be.
Our 2007 vacation would be from May 19, (the day before our anniversary) through the 27th. 2007 is a year that the Texas Legislature is meeting, which means a couple of things. First, it means I shouldn't be getting any vacation before the session ends on Memorial Day, May 28. Second it means that Memorial Day is no longer a holiday for me. There goes my recovery day. But I am able to take a vacation because my particular project for the past three years kicks into high gear after the session is over. So after agreeing to work a support shift immediately before our trip, and agreeing to work the final day of the legislative session (the day after our trip) I was given the green light to take off for a week.
Friday, May 18, I manage to get off work by 4:00 PM in order to drop "the boy" off at summer camp after taking him for a nice long walk.

I got back, finished my packing, and we hit the sack in order to get at least 5 hours of sleep. Ahhh, but sleep never comes the night before a trip, does it?
